Made with fruits that are high in antioxidants, this smoothie is super healthy and absolutely delicious. Add a little red wine, for a fabulous wine cooler — or boozy smoothie!
2 bags green tea (regular or decaffeinated)
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 cup frozen seedless dark purple/red grapes (organic if possible)
1 cup frozen wild blueberries
1/4 cup tart organic cherry juice concentrate
1/2 ripe large avocado
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
Using 2 tea bags, make 1 cup (8 ounces) of double strength green tea. Set aside. Add the remaining ingredients to a blender. Pour the green tea into the blender and blend well.

I love Dynamic Health Laboratories Organic Certified Tart Cherry Juice Concentrate! Just 2 tablespoons is equivalent to 80 cherries! To me, this tart cherry juice concentrate tastes sweet and tangy. Per 2 tablespoons, it has 15 grams of carbohydrate — about half the carbs in maple syrup and honey!
Loaded with antioxidants, tart cherry juice is a powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-aging food. For detailed information about tart cherry juice’s health benefits related to pain relief, cardiovascular health, and improved sleep, see Dr. Oz, the People’s Pharmacy, and The Red Report from ChooseCherries.com.
|Diets||Berry Cherry Smoothie|
|Diabetic||Yes (See notes re Low-carbohydrate below.)|
|Low-carbohydrate (low-carb)||Yes, in small quantities (½ cup or less) and preferably with meals. For larger serving, add more green tea to lower the grams of carbohydrate per serving. The fat (in avocado) and fiber (in avocado, blueberries, grapes, and ginger) helps to prevent blood sugar spikes.|
|Raw||Not 100%. The cherry juice concentrate is probably pasteurized.|
